Create your account
Creating account at freelancer is a one step process and easier than peopleperhour.com and Upwork. Go to www.freelancer.com. There you have two options to sign up with freelancer.com. You can either click the signup button on the top right or click the work button on the center of the page as shown in figure 1.
After you click the sign up button, you will be taken to a new page where you have to enter your account details such as user name and password. After entering your details, click on the create account button at the end as shown in figure 2 and you are done with registration process. A good thing about freelancer.com is that you can also sign up with freelancer using your Facebook account and the page has that option as well.
Complete Your Profile
As discussed in the previous articles of this series, a new freelancer has to build a very strong profile which should also be totally complete in all respects. In the absence of job history, this is your spearhead in job hunting.
Login into your account on freelancer.com and click on the profile tab in the menu bar as shown in the figure 3
It will take you to your profile page where you can complete all the section of your profile as shown in figure 4. Like peopleperhour.com and Upwork, important profile sections at freelancer.com are portfolio, skills and resume. Also try to take as much exams as possible if you want to rapidly improve your level. On the right side of the profile page you can see your profile completeness percentage tab.
How to bid?
Bidding process at freelancer.com is extremely simple. Click on the browse project tab on the menu. A drop down list will appear where you can browse projects according to your choice as shown in figure 5.
For example if you choose, browse categories. You will be taken a new page where you can see hundreds of project categories from which you can select your area of expertise and bid on the project. This is shown in figure 6.
Bidding techniques for beginners on freelancer.com are similar to peopleperhour.com and Upwork. You should meet deadlines, bid smaller amount, use user bids judiciously because freelancer only have 8 bids for free members. We wish you best of luck with your freelancing career at freelancer.com.
